Literacy Bags for Kindergarten - Letter I - Ice Cream

Reading:
Should I Share My Ice Cream - Elephant and Piggy

Poetry:

I had 5 scoops of ice cream no less no more.
One fell off, and that left four.
I had 4 scoops of ice cream as yummy as could be.
One fell off and that left 3.
I had 3 scoops of ice cream.
Yes, it is true.
One fell off and that left 2.
I had two scoops of ice cream in the melting sun.
One fell off and that left 1.
I had one scoop of ice cream sitting on the cone.
I ate it up, and and now there are none!

Science:
Follow this link here for a unit on ice cream.  It is geared more towards 1st.  It has a recipe for making ice cream in a bag.  Make and it and eat it!  

Math:
We will be counting to 30 by 5's and by 1's. This is a great hands on activity.  Using the same pom pom balls, we will also being working on patterns.  Here is a cute example using scrapbook paper.

Ice Cream graphing - this would also be a good time to practice tally marks.

Art:
This looks like a fun sensory art project!

Sight Words:
It doesn't get any better than this!  This is an ice cream sight word activity and this amazing person even has all the sight words sets already printed on ice cream scoops!  Grab the words you are working on and have fun!
